With only three members of the board present, the Peotone Park District approved their annual budget in less than 15 minutes.
Board President Barb Sim, Chris Miller, and Aimee Saari were present, along with manager Kelly LaMore and maintenance Jeff Eschbach.
The regularly scheduled meeting was canceled immediately thereafter, as Saari was not feeling well.
Some brief talking points of the budget included $204,335 in the bank. The budget included $64,284 from the tax levy, $11,400 in interest, $3,500 in public support/grants, $7,000 in rentals, along with other amounts totaling less than $3,000. Total receipts expected were $94,734 in the corporate fund.
Expenditures included $80,000 for salaries, $5,000 for dues and membership, computers – $2,000, landscaping – $5,000, legal and accounting – $12,000, printing and postage – $7,000, maintenance and repairs – $8,500, IMRF retirement contribution for the two full time employees – $10,000, and park grounds/capital improvements – $25,000, along with other miscellaneous expenditures totaling $174,300.
The recreation fund balance was $32,933. Tax levy collection was $58,830, program fees – $40,000, and public support/grants – $3,000.
Salaries total $75,000, equipment repair – $5,000, program expenses – $30,000. Ball fields allotment was $5,000 for the year, with other miscellaneous line item expenditures also, for a total of $121,000.
Two other funds, insurance and special recreation, listed receipts and expenditures. The total appropriation for the year was $426,189.
Sim added the park board is pleased to present a balanced budget.
