Water rates will go up in Palos Park – again.
Due to water suppliers from Oak Lawn and Chicago raising their rate 29 cents per thousand gallons and Palos Park increasing its rate 11 cents per thousand gallons to offset the cost of improvement expenses, village water customers will see a 40-cent increase per thousand gallons.
The rate is going up from $13.85 to $14.25 per thousand gallons.
Palos Park Commissioner Rebecca Petan said at the June 9 village council meeting that the average household uses 6,000 gallons of water each two-month period in the village and that translates to a raise from $83.10 to $85.50.
The increase will go into effect July 1.
