Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd is coming to Orland Park this summer as part of the Centennial Park West Summer Concert series, the village announced Wednesday.
Lynyrd Skynyrd will perform Friday, August 8. Gates open at 5 p.m.
They will join Trace Adkins and a tribute to Yacht Rock in performing at the Orland Park venue.
Lynyrd Skynyrd pre-sale of tickets is now underway through midnight Sunday using the access code Resident. Tickets are $45 and $65. General ticket sales begin at 10 a.m. Monday, May 5.
Lynyrd Skynyrd is known for its hit songs “Sweet Home Alabama,” “Free Bird,” and “Gimme Three Steps.”
The band suffered a tragedy when a plane carrying lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, backup singer Cassie Gaines, assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick, pilot Walter McCreary and co-pilot William Gray crashed on October 20, 1977, near Gillsburg, Mississippi.
The summer concert series will kick off on Saturday, July 12, with Yacht Rock & Soft Rock Night from 5-10:30 p.m. The concert will feature Pablo Cruise, Ambrosia and Firefall.
Country star Trace Adkins is set to appear Saturday, August 30, from 4-10 p.m. as part of his What Color’s Your Wild Tour.
