Palos Heights police are searching for a Chicago man whose car and personal effects were found abandoned early Tuesday in the 11800 block of South Harlem Avenue near the Calumet Sag Channel.
Police said they were notified of the car about 4 a.m. by a passer-by.
Responding officers located the vehicle and determined it belonged to Joshua Blair, 37, of the 11400 block of Lothair Avenue in Chicago.
Attempts to locate Blair were unsuccessful, and his personal belongings — including his phone and wallet—were found inside the vehicle.
Officers contacted family members, who confirmed Blair had left home around 3 a.m. and had not been heard from since.
Concerned for his well being, the Palos Heights Police Department immediately initiated a
comprehensive search effort that included a police drone, assistance from canine units with the Chicago Ridge Police Department and the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, Palos Heights Fire Department’s marine unit, and aerial support from the Chicago Police Department helicopter to check surrounding areas, including the Cal-Sag Canal and nearby bike paths.
Blair is considered missing and in danger. He is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, approximately 155 pounds, and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and gray Nike shoes.
