On April 21, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Monee Fire was dispatched to three separate fires at the Amazon facility. Upon arrival, the small fires were quickly extinguished. Monee Fire Investigators determined the fires to be intentional.
The State Fire Marshal and the MABAS 27 Fire Investigation Team were contacted, along with MPD Detectives. All three fires were set in bathrooms. The facility was evacuated, pending investigation.
Video review identified an employee, who was in the area of all three fires that were set on different floors. While investigators processed the scene, pictures of the suspect were passed to MPD officers, who started walking in the crowd around the parking lot.
At approximately 11 p.m., a suspect was identified and taken into custody. Elijah P. Fields-Facko, 18, was arrested and charged with attempted arson.
