On Sunday, April 20, Manteno Police Officers K. Brandt and Z. Boeringa were dispatched, at approximately 3:35 p.m., for an assault report in the 700 block of N. Locust Street in Manteno and found the alleged suspect in proximity of Parker Towing, which is near the residence where the incident happened.

Officers spoke with both the alleged suspect, who appeared to be very worked-up, and the alleged victim. According to the suspect, upon exiting his residence, he was verbally bombarded by his neighbor.

After the verbal confrontation and prior to actual physical contact, the suspect walked over to Parker Towing and had his co-worker walk back with him in case of any further confrontation, as the victim also had a friend with him.

An argument and altercation followed, with the suspect admitting to hitting victim, after fearing he might initially be hit himself.

The argument apparently centered on some of the victim’s household belongings that were in the basement where the suspect recently has been living. The victim wanted the items back.

After taking statements from the alleged suspect and victim, victim was checked out by the Manteno Fire Department but refused transport. The alleged victim also signed a battery complaint.

Suspect was transported to Jerome Combs Detention Center, where he was held on charges of aggravated battery – victim 60+.
