The Oak Lawn Village Board honored the Special Olympic Lady Eagles basketball team that represents the Oak Lawn Park District Tuesday night.

The Lady Eagles were honored for being state champions. Trustee Paul Mallo (3rd) said this was a dominant team.

“They had never been all together until this year,” Mallo said. “But oh my goodness, they are so good. They were just the best in the state. We just wanted to recognize them for what they have done.”

Mayor Terry Vorderer said he was impressed with the Oak Lawn Park District and also wanted to recognize the efforts of the Lady Eagles.

“I’ve always said that the Oak Lawn Park District does a great job,” Vorderer said. “The programs that they have are just phenomenal.”
