Bob Waight, a 24-year Army veteran, praised Palos Hills and Alderman Mike Lebarre at the April 3 city council meeting for hosting what he called one of the best veterans outreach events he’d attended on March 31.
“I just wanted to take a minute and thank the whole City Council for that great Veterans Day this past week,” Waight said. “I’ve never seen a veterans outreach of that caliber anywhere. It was really good.”
The event at the Palos Hills Community Center was also sponsored by Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller.
Weight said the event was greatly appreciated by members of the American Legion and VFW and offered resources he didn’t even know were available.
“You wish every veteran could’ve been there to see the opportunities available to them,” he said.
He also thanked Bo Jackson, a Cook County military outreach coordinator, who helped run the event, and said she did an “outstanding” job.
