The Easter Bunny made a festive stop in Palos Park on Saturday as families gathered for the village’s annual Brunch with Bunny and Egg Hunt at the Palos Park Recreation Center.
Local families filled the recreation center at 8901 W. 123rd St., on Saturday, April 5, where children and their caregivers enjoyed a delicious pancake and egg breakfast from Royalberry Waffle House & Restaurant, Easter-themed games, face painting and photos with the Easter Bunny.
After brunch, children dashed through the grass in search of more than 1,000 colorful prize-filled Easter eggs hidden across the Village Green. Some children compared their loot with friends while others posed for pictures with the Bunny, who didn’t miss a beat hopping from group to group for smiles and high-fives.
“This is always so much fun to be a part of,” Aga Walkowicz, of Palos Park, said, who attended with her 5-year-old son, Filip.
After the egg hunt, children had a chance to participate in an age-divided egg roll, rolling a plastic egg across the green. The winners of the egg roll races and those lucky enough to find the golden eggs received prizes, courtesy of the Palos Park Recreation & Parks Department.
Mayor Nicole Milovich-Walters joined the celebration, along with Recreation & Parks Department Director Steven DeFalco, Joann Henniff of Stroll Magazine, city officials, and a crowd of excited residents – all ready to welcome the holiday and the beautiful spring weather.
“It’s an amazing day and so much fun seeing the kids grow up year after year,” said Palos Park Mayor Nicole Milovich-Walters. “Also, having the egg hunt outside is very nostalgic. It really brings me back to my own childhood.”
The event, a springtime tradition in Palos Park, succeeded once again in bringing the community together for a little fun before the holiday.
