Rosemary A. Smith (née Paulus), a beloved longtime resident of Chicago’s Garfield Ridge community, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the age of 88.
She was the devoted wife of the late Roy H. Smith and the loving mother of Karen Smith, Michael (Mary) Smith, and Laura Cleary. She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Smith. A cherished grandmother, Rosemary adored her grandchildren—Logan, Connor, Hannah, Ethan, and Sarah. She was the fond sister of Geraldine Paulus and the late Joanne (the late Peter) Conway and sister-in-law of the late Regina Smith. She will also be remembered with love by her nieces and nephews.
For over 30 years, Rosemary worked as a waitress at Petey’s Bungalow Restaurant in Oak Lawn, where she made lasting friendships and touched many lives.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th Street just west of Harlem), from 9 a.m. until the time of Prayers at 10:30 a.m. A procession will follow to St. Daniel the Prophet Church for an 11 a.m. Mass. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Resurrection Cemetery.
