Alfred Amos

Cook County Sheriff’s Police arrested a man after he struck a 64-year-old man with a tire iron after a minor traffic accident in Palos Park last month, police said.

Alfred Amos, 27, was arrested Feb. 24 after he reportedly struck the victim with the tire iron during an argument and then attacked the victim’s car and damaged his windshield, police said.

During their investigation, officers learned that the two men were initially involved in a fender bender just before noon near 87th Street and LaGrange Road.

Police said Amos got out of his vehicle, grabbed a tire iron, and began yelling at the victim for hitting his vehicle from behind. He then struck the victim in the face with the tire iron.

Amos was charged with felony Aggravated Battery with Use of a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Battery in a Public Place, and Criminal Damage to Property.

Amos is scheduled for a hearing on March 17.
