Peotone’s boys pushed rival Manteno to double overtime before falling 55-51 on Feb. 26 in the Class 2A Coal City Regional semifinals.

The Blue Devils were led by Brandon Weiss with 15 points and Ruben Velasco with 14. The Panthers were paced by Ray Lee with 35 points and Nathan Hupe with eight. 

Peotone led 18-15 after one quarter and 27-18 at halftime.

The Blue Devils finished the season 16-14 overall and fifth in the Illinois Central Eight at 7-7.

Manteno wound up 21-12 and 11-3 in the ICE after falling 73-66 to Southland in the regional final on Feb. 28. The Panthers were aiming for their second straight regional title and just the third in program history.
