The New Year’s Day mass shooting in Kankakee that killed two people dominated the Monday, January 6, Kankakee City Council meeting. Police Chief Chris Kidwell told aldermen his department lacks the information needed to make any arrests. He and Mayor Chris Curtis pleaded for any eyewitnesses to the shooting to come forward and assist in the investigation.
Just after 4 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Kankakee Police responded to calls concerning gunfire at a house in the 1800 block of Pierson Parkway. A total of seven people were found to have suffered gunshot wounds, two later died at a local hospital.
The deceased are identified as Quaysean Isom, 22, of Kankakee, and Trevontae Ellis, 20, of Pembroke Township.
