Darwin Ray Blake, 87, a longtime resident of Summit, Illinois, and formerly of Palos Park, passed away peacefully at home on Friday morning, Dec. 20, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in 1937, Darwin was the only son of the late Richard Arnold Blake and the late Winnie Elizabeth Meeks. He was the devoted husband of Janice Richardson, his beloved wife of 62 years and the love of his life. Together, they built a life filled with love and cherished memories.
Darwin was the proud and loving father of Sherry (Mike) Williams and a devoted “Pa” to his grandchildren Michael Ray, Karsyn, and Connor Williams, who brought him immense joy. He was the dear brother of Delola Maciel, Delice (Sonny) Felty, and Arrawhanna (Jeff) Yates, and a beloved brother-in-law to Dorothy (the late Bill) Bonbrake, the late James (the late Mary Jane) Richardson, and the late Bobby Leroy (Joyce) Richardson. Darwin was also a fond uncle to many nieces and nephews who will remember him warmly.
Darwin faced his physical challenges with dignity and courage, serving as an inspiration to those who knew him. His family and friends will forever hold his memory close to their hearts.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th Street, just west of Harlem). A Celebration of Life service, officiated by Pastor Wayne Basch, will take place at 4 p.m.
With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to Darwin and take comfort in knowing he rests in eternal peace.
