Palos Heights is set to kick off a two-day Kris Kringle Market and its annual Christmas Parade, offering festive fun for all ages.

The Kris Kringle Market runs on Friday, Dec. 6, from 5 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Palos Heights Recreation Center. This family-friendly event features 70 vendors selling handcrafted gifts, festive foods, and holiday decorations.

“Our Recreation Department’s Facebook page lists 50 of the 70 vendors, so there’s truly something for everyone,” Alderman Jeffrey Key said during this week’s city council meeting. “It’s an exciting event for the whole family.”

The festivities begin Friday evening with a tree lighting ceremony led by Mayor Robert Straz, accompanied by a performance from the Shepherd Choir.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, the annual Christmas Parade starts at 10:45 a.m. along Route 83, beginning at 126th and Harlem Avenue. Organized by Alderman Heather Begley, the parade will showcase festive floats, local groups, and an appearance by Santa Claus.

“The last couple of years have seen great turnouts,” Key added. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to bring the whole family and celebrate the season together.”

Admission to the Kris Kringle Market is free, with parking available near the venue. For more information, visit the Palos Heights Recreation Department’s website at palosheightsrec.org or check their Facebook page.
