Thanksgiving is right around the corner, which means it’s time for local Lions Clubs to hold their annual sale of Christmas trees to raise money for the wonderful causes they support during the year.
The Palos Lions will get the tree sales rolling early this year because Thanksgiving falls so late, Nov. 28.
The club will unload trucks and set up the trees from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 23. Sales will start at noon. Volunteers are needed to help with the unloading as well as during the sale, which runs until Dec. 15 as long as trees last that long. The sale runs daily in the bank parking lot at 127th and Harlem in Palos Heights.
Also selling trees this year will be the Worth Lions Club. Their annual sale will start at noon on Friday, November 29, at their usual location at 116th Street and Harlem Avenue in Worth.
In addition, the Worth Lions are holding their Ton of Food Drive on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 10 a.m. with the veterans at Marrs Meyer American Legion Post. Residents are asked to please leave food donations at the front door for collection.
The Orland Lions Club will be unloading and setting up their trees on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 9 a.m. at Village Hall, 14700 S. Ravinia.
The sale will commence at 9 a.m. and run until 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29.
The Lions will offer trees from 5 to 15 feet high, fresh wreaths, wooden reindeer, wooden snowmen and decorative plants.
They also offer free tree wrap, loading and tie-down.
