Organizers are hosting a fill-the-trailer challenge to provide badly needed relief items to storm victims in Northeast Tennessee and Western North Carolina. This effort is being held in conjunction with American Legion Post 1977 in New Lenox and the point of contact at the relief center American Legion Post 49 in Elizabethton, Tennessee.

Much needed items will be accepted at the following locations and dates:

  • Wednesday, November 6, Bottoms Up Bar and Grill, 1696 Thornton Lansing Road, Lansing, from 5 – 9 p.m.; Call 708-418-3877
  • Thursday, November 7, White Rhino Bar and Grill, 101 Joliet Street, Dyer, Indiana, from 5 – 9 p.m.; Call 219-864-9200
  • Friday, November 8, Babes Tap and Grill, 755 N. Broadway, Coal City, from 5 – 9 p.m.; Call 815-634-4868.

Per public health regulations, the following items must be new: Charcoal Grills and charcoal, tents, blankets, sleeping bags, headlamps, paper plates, cups, and bowls, toothbrushes and toothpaste, mops and brooms/dustpans, cleaning supplies, batteries of all sizes, plus 9 x 13 metal disposal pans for heating food on grills

The following can be used but must be in good working condition: Generators, flashlights, shovels, buckets, and rakes. Monetary donations will be accepted.
