Manhattan Police were called to the area of Chippewa Lane and Iroquois Drive at around 9:30 p.m., on October 19, regarding a noise complaint. Patrol units arrived in the area to find nearly 200 people parked and standing in the roadway, revving engines, and creating a disturbance. Many of those gathered appeared to be juveniles. Responding officers ordered the crowd to disperse and, as they did so, they fled on foot through neighborhood yards, while others left the area in the vehicles they were in. Police were on scene for more than an hour until the group completely dispersed and peace had been restored to the neighborhood. Officers later cited the adults of the residence that drew the crowd to the neighborhood. Dominic Amato, 43, and Mandy Amato, 40, both of Manhattan were cited for disorderly conduct. Several juveniles also were cited for disorderly conduct related to this incident.  

On October 19, while Manhattan Police were dispersing a large party, officers were notified of a disturbance in the 15800 block of Chippewa. Officers were advised that an unknown male broke a vehicle windshield and battered a subject, while taking a cellular phone that was recording the incident. A report was completed, with follow-up to come.

On October 21, officers performed a traffic stop in the area of State and Ivanhoe for a vehicle speeding. Officers later identified the driver as Thomas M. Castillo, 47, of Diamond. It was learned Castillo had a warrant for retail theft out of Will County and was arrested for the warrant, cited for speeding, and operating a vehicle with suspended registration for non-insurance.

On September 13, Manhattan Police took a report for fraud report at First Bank of Manhattan for an unknown male depositing a fraudulent check in the amount of $2,890. Through investigation, officers identified and arrested Joseph M. Hisel, 56, of Channahon for felony forgery on October 24. Hisel was processed and released with a notice-to-appear.
