For her October local business spotlight, State Rep. Jackie Haas recognized LoveALatte Coffee in Bradley. Rep. Haas spent time touring the business and presented the directors with a certificate of appreciation for their contributions to the community.
“For my October local business spotlight, I am honored to recognize LoveALatte Coffee in Bradley,” said Rep. Haas. “This highlight is unique because LoveALatte is a non-profit job training hub for adults with special needs in Kankakee County.”
LoveALatte was established in 2018 by special education teachers Jennifer Carroll and Lori Grzelak, who wanted to offer a space for special needs adults after graduating from high school. Their value statement is EVERYONE can learn, EVERYONE can work, EVERYONE is a valuable member of society.
Rep. Haas concluded, “I am truly so proud we have such an incredible organization right here in our community. All too often, we see special needs adults who are essentially left to navigate adulthood on their own after decades of guidance and structure provided by our educational system. Jennifer and Lori saw the massive gap that exists there and created an opportunity for them to learn job skills, build a support system, and thrive in our community. I look forward to my next trip to LoveALatte to support their mission and to watch their organization grow!”
