In the Volley for the Cure conference match-up between the Manteno Panthers and the Peotone Blue Devils on Tuesday, October 1, the two schools came out like gang busters. It was evident each one wanted to win the volleyball match.

Manteno took the first set, 25-20, and were led by senior Brynn Nikonchuk, with 9 kills, 1 assist, and 18 digs. Sophomore Maddie Gesky had 6 kills, 5 blocks, and 2 digs, while freshman Makenna Laskowski tallied 7 kills and 1 block.

On the other hand, Peotone wouldn’t give up. With junior Mia Connoley having 19 kills, 3 blocks, and 8 digs and junior Allie Werner providing 20 assists and 2 digs, the Lady Blue Devils prevailed in the second set, winning 25-20.

The third set was like the first two – a dog fight, but the Lady Blue Devils took charge and never looked back, while winning the third set, 25-17, and the match.
