With the swearing in of 23-year-old Priscilla Contreras at the Monday, September 16, village board meeting, Bourbonnais Police have two female officers on the force for the first time in history. The first female hire in two decades for the department happened on May 6 this year, when Bourbonnais native Erin Curran, 25, was given her oath of office. A second officer was added to the force at the September 16 meeting, with the swearing in of Joseph Walker, 28. Contreras resides in Orland Park and is a graduate of Columbia College in Chicago.
Walker, a military veteran, resides in Elwood and is a graduate of Northern Illinois University.  Neither Contreras nor Walker have previous law enforcement experience.
