Illinois Lutheran traveled to St. Anne on Thursday, September 12, for a River Valley Conference match, with the Chargers winning in two sets, 25-16 and 25-20. In the match, Emma Nagle recorded 1 ace, 20 assists, and 4 digs; Mia Jacobucci – 2 aces and 11 digs; Madison Permenter – 2 aces, 7 kills, 6 digs, and a block assist; Anna Oestmann – 2 aces, 4 kills, and 3 digs; Azaylia Sanchez – 1 ace, 2 kills, and 9 digs; plus Kimberly Danielewicz – 6 kills, 3 digs, and a block assist.
On Tuesday, September 17, the Chargers headed to Clifton for an RVC match. The Chargers jumped out to an 11-5 lead in the first set, behind a 5-point serving run by Anna Oestmann. A 4-point serving run by Emma Nagle put the Chargers up 22-14, then finished the first set with a 25-16 win. Clifton kept the second set close, but the Chargers pulled away and took the second set and match 25-19. Kimberly Danielewicz had a good match collecting 7 aces and 9 kills. Madison Permenter added 7 kills and 4 digs; Emma Nagle had 2 aces, 17 assists, and 8 digs; Mia Jacobucci recorded 9 digs, while Azaylia Sanchez added 7 digs.
On Thursday, September 19, ILHS hosted Beecher in a battle of the two unbeaten teams in the conference. Illinois Lutheran jumped out to a 7-2 lead and kept it throughout the first set. However, Beecher was able to tie the set at 24 and then took the first set win at 26-24. The Chargers kept the second set close in the beginning but fell behind 5-10. They continued playing good defense but were unable to convert into points and lost the second set and the match 18-25.
On the day, Anna Oestmann had 1 ace, 6 kills and 11 digs; Mia Jacobucci scooped up 13 digs; while Emma Nagle had 16 assists to go along with 1 kill and 7 digs. Azaylia Sanchez added 1 ace, 4 kills and 16 digs, plus Kimberly Danielewicz had 5 kills and a block. The Chargers currently are 8-9 overall and 4-1 in the RVC.
