At the Tuesday, September 3, Kankakee City Council meeting, aldermen approved the appointment by Mayor Chris Curtis of current Assistant Comptroller Paula Rogers to the position of comptroller.
The position recently was vacated by Elizabeth Kubal, who has been installed in the new position of City Manager. Mayor Curtis specifically cited her knowledge of the operations of the comptroller office and years of experience within city government as his reasons for selecting her for the job.
Curtis, after council approval of the appointment, said he doesn’t want the assistant comptroller position to remain vacant for a long period of time. He pledged a search will begin in the next seven-to-10 days to find a qualified candidate to serve in that role.
