On August 16, a Peotone Officer was requested to meet with a complainant in the 400 block of E. South Street, referencing a report for fraud. Upon arrival, the officer was advised an unknown subject used the complainant’s personal information to obtain a student loan. The complainant was requesting the report for documentation to the loan company and, if there was any additional assistance needed, he would re-contact the police. The officer completed a report with viable information available at the time of report.
On August 16, a Peotone Officer was dispatched to meet with a complainant in the 300 block of S. Harlem Street, in reference to a missing/endangered elderly male with dementia. Upon arrival, the officer obtained all pertinent information, which was relayed to additional Peotone units and area law enforcement, who then began searching the area. The reporting officer also entered the missing subject into the national database. During the search, a Will County Sheriff Deputy located the subject in the area of 31040 S. Ridgeland, with the Peotone Officer and Manhattan Fire responding. The fire department evaluated the missing subject but was able to release him to his family, who also had responded to the location.
On August 20, Peotone Police responded to the report of a property damage accident on W. North Street and N. Second Street. Upon arrival, the Peotone Officer met with the driver of vehicle, who advised that while backing out they struck the side of an unoccupied vehicle parked on the street. The officer completed an accident report for property damage.
On August 22, while patrolling, a Peotone Officer noticed a vehicle traveling without working taillights. Upon conducting a traffic stop at E. Corning Avenue and S. Fourth Street, the officer explained why the vehicle was stopped and requested the driver’s license and proof of insurance. The driver (F/B, 36) advised she was unable to supply either documentation, but gave the officer her name and birth date. The officer conducted a check on the license plate of the vehicle and on the driver’s information provided, learning the vehicle registration was suspended. Upon running the driver through the database, it was learned the driver had a suspended license and a warrant for arrest.
The vehicle was towed from the scene. The driver was placed under arrest, processed at the Peotone Police Department, and issued four citations for Driving Without Lights When Required, Suspended Registration, Suspended Driver’s License, and Operating Uninsured Motor Vehicle. The arrestee was then transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility on the NO Bond warrant.
