On August 9, at approximately 10:10 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Monee Police Department to meet with a victim of fraud. Upon arrival, they met with a subject who said he had put tires for a Cadillac on Facebook Marketplace to sell. A buyer responded, and the deal was set to be made at Thornton Travel Center on Monee-Manhattan Road. The victim met with the buyer and was paid $900, using $100 bills. After the sale, the victim realized he had been paid $100 more than the asking price of $900. He attempted to contact the buyer on Facebook Market Place but was blocked from communicating. The victim became suspicious and carefully checked the $100 bills he received and discovered $600’s worth were counterfeit. The case was turned over to Monee Investigations. It should be noted the Monee Police Department is a designated meeting location for public transactions that provides enhanced safety and may deter criminal behavior.
On August 11, at approximately 3:40 a.m., a traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Kyle Moore, 20, of Richton Park. Moore was issued citations for driving while his license was suspended and operating a motor vehicle without valid insurance. He was released with a notice-to-appear via his citations.
On August 11, at approximately 11:04 a.m., Monee Officers were dispatched to South Linden Avenue about a motor vehicle burglary. Officers met with a victim, who reported that sometime in the early morning of August 11, an unknown subject entered their unlocked car and stole a wallet. The victim said their expired driver’s license and approximately $10 in U.S. currency were taken. The case was turned over to Monee Investigations. The Monee Police Department recommends locking car doors and parking in a well-lit area.
On August 12, at 10:16 p.m., Monee Officers were dispatched to 6605 W. Monee-Manhattan Road (Amazon) concerning a delayed theft. Upon arrival, they met with the loss prevention officer, who said an employee was observed on camera taking merchandise during their shift. Officers were told Amazon would sign complaints, and the employee was in their office. Officers put Kyla Pryor, 18, of South Holland, in custody for theft under $500. Pryor was taken to the Monee Police Department for booking and released with a notice-to-appear.
On August 13, at approximately 1:28 a.m., a traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Emmanuel Vinson, 24, of Crete. Vinson was issued citations for operating a motor vehicle when his registration was suspended for no insurance and driving while his license was suspended. He was released with a notice-to-appear via his citations.
