Gonzalez 3JOSE GUADALUPE GONZALEZ 

Jose Guadalupe Gonzalez who was born on September 12, 1972, passed away on July 23, 2024 at the age of 51.

Visitation was held July 30 at Szykowny Funeral Home, 4901 S. Archer Ave. Jonathan Siedlecki owner-director.  Funeral Mass was celebrated July 31 at Immaculate Conception.  Jose was laid to rest at St. Casimir Cemetery.

Lassak 1ANNA LASSAK

Anna Lassak (nee Strama), age 58, passed away August 6.

Loving mother of Angelina Lassak and Monica Lassak; dearest godmother of Aneta Salazar, Dagmara Jarosz and Mateusz Skupien; cherished daughter of the late Helena (nee Staszel) and the late Jozef Strama; dear sister of the late Maria Skupien; former spouse of Stanislaw Lassak. Also survived by many relatives and friends. Proud member of Kolo #35 Maruszyna of ZPPA.

Visitation was held August 9 at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Avenue, Justice. Funeral was held August 10, Prayers and procession from the funeral home to Saint Albert the Great Church, 8029 S. Central Avenue, Burbank, for Mass. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery, Justice. Ortiz 1JOSE CARMEN ORTIZ

Jose Carmen Ortiz of Chicago, Little Village community, passed away peacefully Saturday night August 10, three days after his 87th birthday.

He was the beloved husband of the late Maria Guadalupe Perez; loving father of Alberto Ortiz (Juan Carlos Gonzalez), Natalia Ortiz, Rosa Maria Ortiz, Martha Elena (Roberto) Lara, Margarita Ortiz (Reynel Villalobas), Ofelia Ortiz, Raul Ortiz (Scott Mossman), Antonio Ortiz and the late SGT. Juan Ramon Ortiz C.P.D. Jose will be missed by his many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He will be missed by his many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

Mass was celebrated for Jose August 14 at Epiphany Church. Visitation was held August 14 at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th street just west of Harlem). Jose was buried alongside his wife and son, on August 16 at St. Casimir Cemetery.

MAXIMIANO “MAX” PANTOJA 

Maximiano “Max” Pantoja who was born on June 4, 1952, passed away on July 29, 2024 at the age of 72.

Visitation was held August 2 at Szykowny Funeral Home, 4901 S. Archer Ave. Jonathan Siedlecki owner-director. Funeral Mass was celebrated August 3 at St. Richards Church.

VIRGINIA A. PRESSY

Virginia A. Pressy (nee Smieszek), 100, of Palos Park, passed away peacefully at her residence with her loving sons by her side.

She was the beloved wife of the late John Pressy; loving and devoted mother of Glen (Linda) and Gary Pressy; dearest sister of Teresa (the late Norbert) Bozyinski and the late Lottie (the late Edward) Fedyniak and Lillian Smieszek; dear aunt of many nieces and nephews; dear aunt to many nieces and nephews; loving dog grandma to Cubbie and C.J.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.

Family and friends will gather for a memorial mass at 10 a.m. Friday, August 30, at Sacred Heart Church, 8245 W. 111th St. Palos Hills. Private family Interment Resurrection Mausoleum

Zapotoczny 1JOSEPH “JOE Z” ZAPOTOCZNY

We are saddened to announce the passing of Joseph “Joe Z” Zapotoczny.

He was the beloved brother of Rosemary Queen (the late Glen Altman); dearest uncle of Paul (Candace) Shimkus, Melissa Queen and Jonathan (fiancée Lindsay) Queen; fond great uncle of Leah and Carter; dear cousin of Lucyna Nowak. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Paulina Zapotoczny and his brother Ted Zapotoczny. Before his retirement, Joe Z worked at Reavis High School in the custodial department and as a bus driver, which included driving many of the players of the school’s sports teams. Joe Z will be missed by his family, many friends and neighbors.

Visitation was held August 11 at Foran Funeral Home, 7300 W. Archer Ave. (55th street just west of Harlem). Visitation at the funeral home August 12 until time of Prayers. Procession from the funeral home to St. Faustina Kowalska Church for a Mass of Christian burial. Joe was laid to rest next to his parents and brother at Resurrection Cemetery.
