Peotone Police Department Successfully Implements First Traffic Safety Grant Since 2009
During the past three weeks, the dedicated officers of the Peotone Police Department have been working diligently under an Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) speed safety grant. During this period, officers have issued 43 speeding citations, marking a significant step in our ongoing efforts to enhance road safety within our community.
This traffic safety grant, the first Peotone has received since approximately 2009, has allowed the police department to intensify its focus on speed enforcement. The initiative aims to ensure our roads are safer for all residents and visitors.
In addition to the successful speed enforcement, the Village of Peotone has been awarded more than $30,000 in reimbursable funds for additional traffic safety initiatives. These funds will be used to bolster our enforcement efforts, particularly focusing on DUI enforcement during holiday periods, furthering commitment to keeping our streets safe.
Chief DeMik and the entire Peotone Police Department would like to thank the community for their continued support and cooperation. Together, we can make Peotone a safer place for everyone.
