The Will-South Cook Soil and Water Conservation District will host a tour of the Issert Family Farm, 21204 Ballou Road, in Wilmington, on Wednesday, August 14. The Issert Family Farm, operated by Steve Issert, received this year’s Conservation Farm Family Award from the district. The farmstead includes traditional row crops, as well as more than 100 acres of woodlands.
In 2014, the farm was designated as a Will County Historic Landmark. The tour will provide an opportunity to learn about conservation practices, such as wetlands and ponds, terraces, waterways, and woodland management.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. and end at noon, with lunch included. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to the district office at 815-462-3106, ext. 3, or email info@will-scookswcd.org by Friday, August 9, to reserve a spot.
