On July 6, at approximately 6:34 p.m., a traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Alejandro Estrella, 33, of Cedar Lake, Indiana. Estrella was issued citations for speeding over the statutory limit (35-mph over the posted limit) and driving without valid insurance. He was released with a notice-to-appear via his citations.
On July 6, at approximately 10:20 p.m., a Monee Officer observed a black Dodge Challenger backed into a parking stall in front of the Quality Inn hotel. The officer noticed the registration was expired and confirmed it was expired to a blue 2001 Dodge four-door, not a black Challenger. Upon further investigation, the officer learned the vehicle was stolen from Chicago on June 17. The Chicago Police Department confirmed this was the correct vehicle and asked the officer to tow and impound it for safekeeping. Upon notifying the owner, the car was recovered by the Monee Police Department.
On July 8, at approximately 9:34 p.m., a traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Stacey Garretson, 60, of Monee. Garretson was issued citations for driving without a registration light and driving while her license was suspended. She was released with a notice-to-appear via her citations.
On July 9, at approximately 1:56 a.m., a traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Julias Hodges, 37, of South Holland. Hodges was issued citations for a suspended registration for non-insurance, operating an uninsured vehicle, and driving while his license was suspended. He was released with a notice-to-appear via his citations.
On July 11, at approximately 4:51 p.m., a Monee Officer was driving directly behind a Nissan Altima with a dark tinted cover on the back registration, making it difficult to read the plate. During a red light, the officer got close enough and discovered a suspicious dealer plate from Michigan. The officer ran the plate through dispatch and discovered no record was on file. A traffic stop found the plate invalid, and further investigation determined the vehicle was stolen from Chicago on September 30, 2021. The officer confirmed through the Chicago Police Department the vehicle had been stolen. The car was towed for safekeeping. The driver, from Hazel Crest, was arrested and booked for unlawful display of registration, operating an uninsured vehicle, and aiding/abet/poss/selling a stolen car. Sims was issued a pre-trial notice-to-appear, given copies of her violations, and released.
On July 12, at approximately 4:44 p.m., a traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Artsiom Chykunou, 40, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Chykunou was issued citations for speeding over the statutory limit (46-mph over the posted limit). He was released with a notice-to-appear via his citations.
