At 2 p.m. on July 8, a Peotone officer was dispatched to meet with a complainant at Old National Bank regarding a report of check fraud. Upon arrival, the officer met with the complainant, who stated they noticed an unauthorized withdrawal by check when checking their bank balance.

The complainant explained the check in question originally was made out to a different recipient and for a different amount than what was presented at the bank. All available information was collected, and the Peotone Detective Division is continuing the investigation.

*Warning: Residents are advised to be vigilant about check fraud. Ensure checks are mailed securely and monitor bank accounts regularly for any unauthorized transactions. If you notice any suspicious activity, report it to your bank and local law enforcement immediately.
