On June 17, at approximately 8:01 p.m., a traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Dabi Aria, 44, of Chicago. Aria was issued citations for operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license and expired registration. He was released with a notice-to-appear via his citations.
On June 20, at approximately 5:06 p.m., Monee officers received a dispatched report of a hit-and-run vehicle accident on eastbound Crete-Monee Road. Upon arrival, officers learned two vehicles were traveling from Monee to Crete, when the offending vehicle decided the victim’s vehicle was driving too slowly. At that time, the offending vehicle attempted to drive around the victim’s vehicle, using the right gravel shoulder to pass. It hit the victim’s vehicle’s rear passenger side, with the offending vehicle’s front driver side. They then continued eastbound at a high rate of speed. The Monee Police Department does not recommend using the right shoulder at any time to pass another vehicle safely.
On June 21, at approximately 6:21 p.m., a Monee resident reported receiving a notice from Verizon Wireless advising she had an outstanding debt. She initially discarded the notice because she did not have a Verizon account. A second notice was sent to her showing she owed $1,349.69 for Verizon services. The resident took this notice to a Verizon store and learned five phone lines were opened in her name. The Monee Police Department advises residents to monitor their credit reports at least twice yearly and quarterly would be even better to intercept fraudulent activity in their name. Residents also can lock their accounts to new activity; this prevents any activity on the account, stopping scammers from accessing personal information.
On June 22, at approximately 3:42 p.m., after investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred on June 20, where a vehicle attempted to pass another car on eastbound Crete-Monee Road using the right gravel shoulder, causing damage to both cars, Monee officers arrested Shelby Guillory, 28, of Crete, for improper passing, hit and run (property damage), leaving the scene of an accident, and operating an uninsured vehicle. Guillory was released with a notice-to-appear for her violations.
On June 22, at approximately 9:52 a.m., a traffic stop resulted in the arrest of Juan Gallardo-Chavez, 49, of Romeoville. Gallardo-Chavez was issued citations for speeding over the statutory limit and operating a motor vehicle with no valid license. He was released with a notice-to-appear via his citations.
