June 2: Peotone Police were dispatched to the 200 Block of Main Street in response to a report of a male subject shooting a pellet gun at a stop sign. Upon arrival, officers located the subject, who had an airsoft pellet gun. After speaking with the subject, he secured the pellet gun inside his residence and was issued a village ordinance complaint for discharge of weapon prohibited in village limits.
June 3: While patrolling Peotone, an officer observed a parked, running vehicle in the area of Sixth and Walnut. After speaking with the driver, two village ordinance complaints were issued for expired registration and improper tinted windows.
June 4: Upon receiving a report of a domestic disturbance, Peotone Officers responded to the 300 Block of Main Street. Upon arrival, they spoke with the three parties involved – one complainant and two participants. The participating parties advised there was no altercation, and no report was needed. One participant was given domestic violence informational paperwork, and the parties agreed to remain separated for the evening.
June 6: Peotone Police responded to a report of a disturbance in the 100 Block of Second Street. Upon arrival, officers spoke with several patrons and an employee, who stated a male subject came in causing a disturbance and, when asked to leave, pushed the employee. The employee stated they were not injured and did not want to press any charges. The suspect had left the establishment prior to the officer’s arrival. After clearing the location, officers contacted the individual causing the disturbance and issued a village ordinance complaint for unlawful fighting in licensed premises.
June 8: Peotone Police were dispatched to a severe accident at Wilmington-Peotone Road near the Will County Fairgrounds, involving a minivan and a semi. Upon arrival, officers and emergency medical personnel accessed the scene, finding the driver of the minivan unresponsive. Manhattan Fire and Paramedics immediately began extrication and providing medical attention. The driver of the semi was uninjured. A Will County accident reconstructionist was requested due to the severity of the accident. The Will County Emergency Management Agency also responded, assisting in traffic control and lighting. The driver of the minivan, a 49-year-old male, was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The Peotone Police Department extends its deepest condolences to family and friends of the deceased.
June 10: A Peotone Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding at S. Governors and Crawford Avenue. Upon speaking with the driver, a 34-year-old male, it was learned he did not possess a driver’s license or vehicle insurance. The driver was cited for no valid license-never issued, uninsured motor vehicle, and speeding. He was issued a court date with a mandatory notice to appear, released, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
