Sami Hirmiz

From staff reports

Oak Lawn Police Department tactical detectives last week raided a home and recovered drugs and cash.

At 8 a.m. on May 29, detectives executed a search warrant at 8825 S. Austin, assisted by the department’s Special Response Team.

Detectives recovered more than 17 pounds of cannabis bagged for sale and approximately $7,000 in cash from inside the residence.  Equipment used for the manufacture and growing of cannabis was also recovered.

A resident of the home, 19-year-old Sami Hirmiz, was taken into custody by Oak Lawn Police and charged with Felony Manufacture and Delivery of Cannabis, Felony Possession of Cannabis, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

At the time of his arrest, Hirmiz was enrolled in the Cook County Electric Monitoring Program due to three pending and separate criminal cases, DUI, Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer, and Robbery.

Given these circumstances and Hirmiz’s criminal background he was held in custody and transferred to the Bridgeview Courthouse for a detention hearing. He was ordered held at Cook County Jail.

He was scheduled to be in court on June 5.

Another resident of the home, 61-year-old Faozi Hirmiz, was also taken into custody and charged with Felony Manufacture and Delivery of Cannabis, Felony Possession of Cannabis and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and two counts of Resisting Arrest.

This investigation is on-going and additional charges may be lodged at a later date.

  1. Damn damn what a shame. I’m sure they were almost close to finishing there. Brain surgeon, medical degrees and instead now they’re gonna be proctologist at Cook county

  2. I remember Oak Lawn being a nice Community when my family lived in and around there. My Aunt and Uncle use to own the Dog N Suds on 95th and they owned Hickory Hills Lounge up the hill from the Saber Room. My cousins husband was a Poliice Chief of Hickory Hills. It was a quiet little Community.. I have not been back there in that area for at least 50 years. The closest I had been is Ressurectiion Cemetary.
