Join the community on Saturday, June 1, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., for this season’s re-opening of the French Heritage Museum at the Stone Barn, 165 N. Indiana Avenue in Kankakee! Patrons may drop by to browse the museum and learn about their genealogy. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn about French involvement in the history of the Kankakee River Valley – the first explorers and missionaries, the coureurs de bois and fur traders, and the pioneer settlers from France, French Canada, and Belgium. French Heritage Museum admission is always free, although donations are appreciated.

Please note, these are the official hours for the season – Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., through the end of December. Private tours may be booked for any day of the week at least one week prior to the reservation date by contacting museum staff at frenchheritagemuseum@gmail.com. The museum will be closed for the following holiday weekends: August 31 and November 30.
