The free Chain of Blessings Workshop will be held on Saturday, April 20, from 10 – 11:30 a.m., and provides an interactive experience for individuals and families to remember the blessings their loved ones gave them. Participants will make a chain of things their loved ones taught them, special characteristics they had, and anything else that may be significant to participants to help serve as a special, symbolic reminder of their loved one.
This is an opportunity for those attending to share stories and learn it is not only okay to talk about those we have lost, but it’s actually a very healthy outlet. This free workshop is open to individuals and families with children ages five and up. All workshop materials and light refreshments will be provided. Registration is required, so materials may be prepared. To register for this grief workshop or for more information on all of their grief support services, please call the office at 815-939-4141.
Let’s Do Lunch! In honor of National Healthcare Decision Day, please join the group meeting on Thursday, April 25, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., for this free educational presentation on the importance of advance directives. Enjoy lunch, plus conversation with Attorney Greg Deck, and discuss information regarding advance directives and planning to ensure one’s affairs are in order and wishes are clearly communicated. Greg will discuss: Healthcare Power of Attorney, Property Power of Attorney, Living Wills, and DNR directives. Those attending also will have an opportunity to ask questions and have an open discussion with Greg, in addition to meeting the UpliftedCare social work team, who specialize in navigating advance care planning for patients and families. The UpliftedCare Community Grief Center is at 3115 N. 1000 West Road, Bourbonnais. Please call 815-939-4141 to register for this event!
