At the March 4 Kankakee City Council meeting, aldermen approved acceptance of a proposal from Piggush Engineering to oversee the bid process, as well as serve as construction administrator for the ambitious riverwalk project. Piggush will be hiring a landscape architect consultant and an electrical engineer consultant to assist with specific tasks related to the construction process.
The East Riverwalk is just a small portion of the multi-phase plan for the entire Kankakee Riverwalk Project, but the price tag for this first phase is going to be high, with just the bid and construction oversight provided by Piggush costing the City of Kankakee $286,760. No opening date for the bidding process was announced during the meeting.
