By all accounts, the Beecher Bobcats were the team to watch. Undefeated and moving in to the Elite 8 Super-Sectional, the Bobcats knew their up-coming game would be a tough one, and tough it was!
The first quarter included back-and-forth leads and showed the Bobcats weren’t ones to be dismissed, as the first quarter ended with a 15-12 Beecher lead.
The second quarter began much like the first, but the Wildcats pulled away and, at the end of the second, the Wildcats had a one point lead over the Bobcats.
Hard fought it was, but the Bobcats lost the lead at the half and never recovered. In the third, the Phillips Wildcats began pulling away with consistent buckets, which ultimately left Beecher with a game-ending 58-73 loss.
On the night, Adyn McGinley led the Bobcats with 26 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks, and 3 steals. Orlin Nesbitt had 13 points, 7 rebounds, and an assist. Zackary Johnson tallied 12 points, 4 assists, 2 boards, and 2 steals. Ethan Rydberg added 5 points, 3 rebounds, an assist, and a steal, while Jack Hayhurst finished with 3 rebounds and a steal.
The Beecher Bobcats made their town, their school, and everyone who was ever a fan of small town sports, believe that magical seasons can happen!!
