The Lyons Township Trustees of Schools is accepting applications for a vacancy on their board, after Trustee Koula A. Fournier resigned earlier this month after being sworn-in as a Judge of the Cook County Circuit Court.
Fournier was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to fill the Maloney vacancy of the 4th Judicial Subcircuit.
She was sworn-in as a judge on February 2.
Fournier, of Burr Ridge, was elected to the Township Treasurer’s Office Board in April of 2023.
Shakana Kirksey-Miller, President of the TTO Board, said, “We are sad to see Koula leave the board, as her input has been valuable. We are excited for her and the new adventure ahead of her.”
The TTO Board consists of four elected members.
Qualifications for the TTO Board are the applicant must be a qualified elector/registered voter, and must be a resident of Lyons Township. However, no applicant can reside within the same school district as a current trustee. Thus, no applicant can reside in Lyons Elementary School District 103, Summit Elementary School District 104, or LaGrange Highlands Elementary School District 106.
The applicant cannot be a school director or school board member simultaneously.
The appointment begins on March 12, 2024, and expires on May 19, 2025.
Applicants may submit a letter of interest and resume to: Shakana L. Kirksey-Miller, board president, at smiller@lyonstto.net.
All letters of interest and resumes must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on February 29.
The Lyons Township of Trustees of Schools will appoint an individual to fill the remainder of the term, which runs until next year’s municipal elections in April.
