Justice collects retired flags, eyeglasses

Justice has collection boxes in the lobby of village hall for American flags that have been retired or damaged as well as a box that can be used to dispose of outdated eyeglasses for the Justice Lions Club.
At the last village board meeting, Village Clerk Dave Kroll said residents can drop off messages at his office in village hall that can be displayed on the message board in front of village hall.
In other action, Trustee Stan Ogorek made motions for licenses to be approved.
One was for a Home Occupation License for Garbacz Enterprises Inc., operating a home office for a transportation business at 7354 S. Oak Grove Avenue. The other, for a Business License for Aniolek Next-Gen Games Inc., operating a video gaming cafe at 8533 W. 79th Street, contingent upon final inspections.
Both were approved.
Ogorek also made motion to approve the hiring of a full-time Economic Development Coordinator for the Economic Development Department effective January 29.
That was also approved.
The 2024 Student Junior Officials will run the board meeting on April 22. This is done annually where local students take over the positions of elected officials and village attorney. The students will also attend the April 8 village committee meetings.
Trustee Jeff Allen asked for a motion to approve an amendment to the service agreement the village has with Meade Inc., for the routine monthly maintenance of the traffic lights at Archer Avenue and 88th Avenue, and 79th Street and 88th Avenue. The monthly cost will be $190.74 per intersection.
Trustee Melanie Kuban received approval for payables.
Kuban made motion to ratify an agreement between Resurrection Cemetery & Mausoleums and the Village of Justice to install a Flock license plate reader camera at or near 8027 W. 79th Street. This was approved.
Trustee Fran Mills received approval for expenses for the Southwest Conference of Mayors meeting on March 27, not to exceed $1,500, along with approval for annual dues for the Justice Chamber of Commerce for 2024 to be $75, and a donation to Justice Park District for programs and events in the amount of $100.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, February 26.
