On Wednesday, January 10, at approximately 6 a.m., Monee Police Investigators, along with Illinois Department of Corrections Parole Agents, conducted a joint investigation in the 5400 block of W. Mulberry Lane, Monee. The investigation resulted in the arrest of Melissa Weeks, 44, and Gabriel Alvarez, 21.

Weeks was charged with possession of a controlled substance and was released with a citation and a mandatory court appearance. Alvarez was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and a parole violation through the Illinois Department of Corrections. Agents recovered 9mm ammunition, as well as gun ghost-making materials. Alvarez was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility, to be held pending a detention hearing.

The public is reminded that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
