In tournament competition, after beating Southland College Prep on December 27 (45-13) and Reed-Custer (45-22) on Thursday, December 28, the Peotone Lady Blue Devils faced Plainfield South in the tourney championship game on Friday, December 29. It was a tight game, but Peotone prevailed and took the championship, 47-45.
The game started as one would expect for a championship game and two evenly matched teams. It definitely was a battle of the boards. By the end of the first quarter, Peotone was behind, 13-11, and at the half they were down by 3. Then, in the second half, it was all Peotone – out scoring Plainfield South, 24-19, including clutch free-throws toward the end of the game.
In the contest, Addie Graffeo scored 17, Ashley Renwick added 10, and Madi Schroeder finished with 7. Peotone also held Plainfield South to only two girls with double figures.
Overall the Lady Blue Devils are 11-4 and 4-1 in ICE.
