At their December 27 meeting, Bradley Village Board trustees approved the spending of over $1 million for renovations of a building at 428 W. Broadway for use as a community center.
Finance Director Robert Romo said the building will be split into 3 parts. At the rear of the 6,000 foot building will be historical artifacts, the center will be a conference room, kitchen and office space. The front part will be an area available to the public for rental for special occasions such as birthdays, christenings, baby showers and wedding showers.
The Village Board approved contracts with several companies that will complete the renovation work. Site work worth $54,877 will be done by Ruben E. Smith Construction/R&R, Inc. Mechanical work on the building worth $140,399 will be done by M&M Sheet Metal, Inc. Masonry work will be done by Knotts Masonry and Construction at a cost of $139,991. New windows, doors and framing and drywall work will be done by Johnson Downs Construction at a price tag of $544,000. Carpet Weavers will receive $83,480 for flooring and base work. Electric work on the structure at a cost of $134,200 will be completed by Schmidt Electric, Inc.
Finance Director Robert Romo says work on the renovation will begin in the next 30 days and the community center should be open for business in July next year.
