The Kankakee County Museum, 801 S. Eighth Avenue, Kankakee, invites area residents to the annual Gallery of Trees. Celebrating 45 years of this beloved local tradition, this year the Museum is filled with more than 35 trees decorated by area non-profit organizations, based on favorite themes from the past 45 years. Traditionally, more than 3,000 visitors stop in throughout December.

The Gallery of Trees began on Friday, December 1, and is open on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays throughout December, except for December 24, 25, and 31. December hours are Thursday through Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a suggested donation of $3 per person.

Special events throughout the month include The Miracle on Eighth: A Kris Kringle Market, in partnership with the Community Arts Council, December 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and held throughout the grounds of Governor Small Memorial Park, in addition to the Ugly Sweater/Hot Chocolate Party on Friday, December 15, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mark your calendars!!
