Arnold “Arnie” Lee Brothers, 90, of Beecher, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2023, after valiantly fighting numerous health challenges. Born on February 22, 1933, in White County, he was the son of Louis and Mable Brothers.
As a young man, he enlisted in the U. S. Army and went on to courageously serve in Korea, as part of a mine sweeping team on the front lines of combat. Once back stateside, Arnie began a career as a driver with Pace Bus in Chicago and reached a milestone achievement of hitting the four-million-mile mark with zero accidents, in a career spanning more than four decades.
After retiring, he chose to continue his love of driving, while serving the community as a driver for Eastern Will County’s Senior Services program. Throughout this entire time, Arnie enjoyed building relationships with the many passengers on his routes.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Irene; son, Mike (Karen) Brothers; granddaughters, Courtney, Kaylyn, and Olivia Brothers; sister-in-law, Judy Perillo; and many nieces and nephews. Arnie was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; his beloved brothers-in-law, Jim Chiolero and Roger Barbero; and children Melissa, Matthew, and Michelle Brothers.
