The Will County Resource Recovery and Energy (RRE) Division is offering free fire extinguisher recycling, with year-round drop-off locations available in New Lenox, Peotone, and Wheatland Township.

“Homeowners and businesses should frequently check the expiration date on fire extinguishers,” said County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant. “This service offers an environmentally friendly option for recycling those expired extinguishers. I appreciate our local partners for hosting these drop-off locations.”

The following locations are available for drop-off:

  • New Lenox Township Office – 1100 S. Cedar Road, New Lenox, Monday-Friday, from 1-3 p.m., plus the fourth Saturday of every month, from 8 a.m.-noon.
  • Peotone Village Hall, 208 E. Main Street, Peotone, Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Naperville/Wheatland Township, 4232 Tower Court, Naperville, Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

The RRE Division is partnering with Integrity Fire Equipment of Joliet for recycling all extinguishers. Unwanted extinguishers from both residents and businesses are welcome.
