October 2, at approximately 6:11 p.m., a traffic stop on Monee-Manhattan Road resulted in the arrest of Jeremiah B. Dawson, 22, of Matteson, for driving with no valid driver’s license and no insurance. He was cited and released.

October 2, at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers met with a victim of an Instagram scam. The victim received a notice from an unknown user that asked if they could use the victims’ photos on Instagram for a fee and sent two checks for $500 each, which the victim deposited. The unknown user then asked the victim to send $1,000 to a Bitcoin account, with the promise of more money on its way, which she did. Shortly after sending the money, the bank notified her the two checks for $500 failed to clear her account. The victim lost $1,000 to the scam.

October 3, at approximately 10:17 p.m., a traffic stop on Egyptian Trail resulted in the arrest of Marlin B. Sanchez, 41, of 528 W. 143rd Street, East Chicago, Indiana, for driving with no valid license, no valid registration, and no insurance. He was cited and released.

October 4, at approximately 2:03 p.m., officers responded to the 25700 Block of Linden in reference to a possible theft from a porch. A resident called after observing a white sedan, with California registration, parked in front of his house. He observed an Amazon delivery truck drop off an item on his neighbor’s porch. After the truck left a M/B exited the rear passenger side of the white sedan and walked up to the house and took the item left by Amazon. The car drove southbound on Linden.

October 4, at approximately 6:46 p.m., a traffic stop ended with the arrest of Shantell Morris, 33, of 59 Hemlock in Park Forest, with the initial stop for improper lighting. Upon further investigation by the officer, a warrant was discovered, and Morris was taken into custody for processing and released on a cash bond.

October 5, at approximately 9:11 a.m., officers responded to the Whiting Corporation for a report of theft by an employee. Upon their arrival, they were advised employee Christian Ceja removed brass blocks, worth approximately $3,000 dollars each, and placed them in his silver Kia parked in the lot. Further investigation by Whiting Management confirmed the brass blocks were in the Silver Kia. Ceja was arrested for theft, and there is an ongoing investigation.

October 5, at approximately 5:45 p.m., officers were alerted via Monee Flock License Plate Cameras that a stolen semi-trailer was traveling eastbound on Monee-Manhattan Road, from I-57. Officers located the semi-tractor trailer in the Petro Travel Center parking lot and initiated contact with the driver. Upon further investigation, they learned the trailer was stolen from Broadview on September 27. Officers contacted the trailer owner, who advised them the trailer was recovered, however they failed to notify Broadview Police to remove it from the stolen list. The driver was temporarily detained but released without charges following the discovery of the mistake.
