Lyons mayor hosts Town Hall with Garcia, local officials

Lyons Mayor Christopher Getty hosted a Town Hall meeting last week featuring Congressman Jesus “Chuy” Garcia along promising that they would work together to continue to bring state funding to support resident needs.
Also attending the event were state Rep. Lisa Hernandez, state Senator Javier Cervantes, Cook County Commissioner Frank Aguilar, and other local and regional community leaders. Over 200 residents attended the Town Hall meeting at the Village of Lyons community room on August 15.
“It was an honor to host a Town Hall Meeting at our Village Hall last night,” Getty said.
“Over 200 area residents were in attendance,” he said. “It was an excellent opportunity to continue the village’s dedication to open dialogue and the betterment of our community.”
Aguilar informed residents during his remarks that he was pursuing countywide legislation to grant tax exemptions to residents who suffer damage during local flooding.
Residents queried the officials on a range of issues from grant funding, flooding and street and alley repairs.
