Moments after a truck flipped on its side at 79th and Kedzie late last week, State Senator Willie Preston (D-16th) sprang into action to rescue a trucker trapped in the driver’s seat. Using a tire iron, Preston smashed and peeled back the truck’s windshield. He then helped the driver out to safety. The trucker was shaken up, but appeared to have no serious injuries. “As a community, when we see someone in distress, I encourage us to help, not just record [on cellphones],” Preston said. – Screenshots from cellphone video
