“Astro Joe” Guzman (right) and several other amateur astronomers came to West Lawn Park late last month to gaze skyward and offer free, informal science lessons to several dozen local residents, young and old–including how to measure the sky using only your hands. While haze from Canadian forest fires limited visibility, astronomers were able to share strong views of the moon and a flyover by the International Space Station. Guzman, the subject of a March 2022 feature story in the Greater Southwest News-Herald (posted at southwestregionalpublishing.com), has no other Southwest Side visits planned for this year. His remaining visits in the city can be found at chicagoastronomer.com. – Supplied photo
