The Monee Historical Society is excited to announce it is sponsoring a Civil War re-enactment this Sunday, August 6, in front of the Heritage Center, 5210 W. Court Street, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Volunteers still are needed to man the Heritage Center from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

If you have an interest in the American Civil War and want to learn what it was like to be in a Union camp in 1862, residents will not want to miss this event. The interactive, educational, and entertaining event is a free family event.

Cypress Company Civil War re-enactors will be in period uniforms to set up camp on the front green of the Monee Heritage Center. The re-enactors, generally, try to stay in character portraying 1860s soldiers, but are happy to break character to answer questions from those attending, or to invite those attending to participate in drills.

Hope to see you there!
